Quebec and Manitoba, Canada - Approach Navigation Systems has delivered enhanced weather observation capabilities to two Canadian airports with the installation of advanced Mesotech Automated Weather Observing Systems (AWOS) at Amos/Magny Airport (CYEY) in Amos, Quebec, and Virden/R.J. (Bob) Andrew Field Regional Aerodrome (CYVD) in Virden, Manitoba. Installed by, Approach Navigation Systems, these systems provide critical weather monitoring capabilities tailored to each airport's needs, significantly enhancing safety and operational efficiency.
Enhancing Safety and Operational Efficiency
These state-of-the-art systems deliver precise, real-time weather data, enabling pilots and airport operators to make informed decisions. Designed to meet FAA and ICAO requirements, the installations ensure compliance for automated weather reporting and support flight operations.
Technology: Customized Solutions for Each Airport
At Amos/Magny Airport (CYEY), an AWOS I system was installed with sensors for measuring precipitation accumulation, detecting cloud height and vertical visibility, and providing accurate readings for surface temperature, dew point, and barometric pressure to enhance pilot situational awareness and safety.
Virden/R.J. (Bob) Andrew Field Regional Aerodrome (CYVD) received an AWOS IIIP system featuring advanced capabilities, including sensors for wind speed and direction, visibility, temperature, dew point, and barometric pressure, as well as present weather detection to support safe and efficient airport operations.
Cloud-Based AWOS Live for Real-Time Insights
Both systems are remotely monitored and supported via Mesotech’s AWOS Live web application, providing a seamless way to access live weather data. Pilots, airport staff, and community members can view real-time conditions on any internet-connected device, ensuring widespread accessibility.
