The AWOS IIIP system provides critical weather information, including barometric pressure, temperature, wind speed and direction, visibility, precipitation, and cloud cover. This data is essential for pilots making informed decisions, particularly in the varied and sometimes challenging weather conditions of New England.

Mansfield Municipal Airport (K1B9) is a vital hub for general aviation in Bristol County, Massachusetts. Located approximately 2 miles southeast of Mansfield's central business district, the airport serves as an important resource for the local community and the broader region. It features a single asphalt runway (14/32), which is 3,503 feet long and 75 feet wide, accommodating a variety of aircraft operations. The airport supports a diverse range of aviation activities, including recreational flying, flight training, and corporate aviation, making it a popular choice for local pilots and aviation enthusiasts.

One of the airport's unique features is its role as a base for blimp operations, with notable companies utilizing the airport for their blimps, which are often seen in the skies for aerial advertising and event coverage. Mansfield Municipal Airport is deeply integrated into the local community, hosting events and open houses that allow residents to engage with aviation. The airport also supports local businesses and contributes to the regional economy through aviation-related activities. Conveniently located, the airport is easily accessible from the Greater Boston area, making it a strategic location for both local and visiting aviators.

The new AWOS IIIP system is not only a boon for pilots but also for the local community. Enhanced weather monitoring and reporting capabilities mean better preparedness and safety for all airport-related activities. This system supports the airport’s role in emergency services, enabling more accurate and timely weather data for critical situations. Additionally, the improved weather information is shared with the National Weather Service for forecasting, providing critical support for local emergency services, transportation, agriculture, and storm tracking.

Mesotech’s innovative AWOS Live service allows for real-time weather data access through an online Web App. This service allows for up-to-the-minute weather information, available to anyone with internet access. Access AWOS Live at K1B9.AWOS.LIVE.

AWOS Live is more than just a display; it is a comprehensive cloud platform that provides real-time weather data access and system health monitoring with proactive remote maintenance, ensuring optimal system performance. System health notifications are sent to airport personnel, enhancing safety and ensuring the reliability of flight operations. Pilots, airport staff, and local residents can all benefit from live weather conditions at Mansfield Municipal Airport, enhancing safety and operational planning.

Blimps are a familiar sight in the skies over Massachusetts, often used for aerial advertising and event coverage. The installation of the AWOS IIIP system not only supports traditional aviation but also enhances the safety and operational efficiency of these iconic blimps. Accurate weather data is critical for the safe flight of these lighter-than-air craft, ensuring that both pilots and ground crews are well-informed and prepared.

Mesotech International, Inc. is honored to contribute to the continued success and safety of Mansfield Municipal Airport. We extend our gratitude to Gale, Cullen Electric, and Stanwyck Avionics for their collaboration on this important project.
