New Airport Weather Advisor® AWOS-3PT Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) at Robertson Field Airport, CT

Plainville, Connecticut (August 11, 2023) – Mesotech International, Inc. commissioned a new Airport Weather Advisor® AWOS-3PT Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) at Robertson Field Airport (K4B8) in Plainville, Connecticut on August 11, 2023. The installation was performed by Mesotech technicians and assisted by Stanwyck Avionics Incorporated, a woman-owned business since 1971.    

Airport Weather Advisor® is the flagship product of Mesotech International, Inc., a Sacramento, California-based manufacturer of meteorological instrumentation systems. The new AWOS supports aviation safety by providing automatic, up-to-the-minute weather reports to pilots via radio, telephone, or the Internet. The system is monitored remotely by Mesotech’s support staff to ensure the system operates properly year-round. Users can access live data via the web-based app, AWOS Live.   

If you love to fly, Plainville is the place to be. Every year the city hosts several events for flight enthusiasts. Visit during the start of the summer and attend the Plainville Wings and Wheels fly-in and car show every June at Robertson Field or attend the Hot Air Ballon Festival at the end of August in Norton Park. Considering that Robertson Field was opened in 1911 and is the oldest airport in Connecticut, this aviation enthusiasm should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with the town.   

Robertson Field is a public-use airport in Hartford County located two nautical miles North of its central business district. Spanning 39 acres, the airport boasts an asphalt runway, 2/20, measuring 3,665 x 75 feet (1,117 x 23 meters) at an elevation of 202 feet (62 meters) above mean sea level. Roberston Field also features a helipad, H1, with an asphalt surface measuring 30 x 30 feet (9 x 9 meters). The airport is primarily used for general aviation, charter flights, and flight training.

The new system will provide accurate weather data to ensure flight safety at Robertson Field Airport for years to come.
