RUIDOSO, N.M. | June 12, 2026 — Mesotech International, Inc. has completed the installation of a new FAA-certified Airport Weather Advisor® AWOS IIIPT at Sierra Blanca Regional Airport in Ruidoso, New Mexico, following an emergency replacement effort prompted by a malfunction and outage of the airport’s aging weather observing equipment.
The expedited installation comes at a critical time for the airport and the surrounding region. Sierra Blanca Regional Airport is preparing to welcome its first commercial airline service, connecting Ruidoso with Denver and expanding access to one of New Mexico’s most visited mountain destinations. The new AWOS will provide certified aviation weather observations needed to support safe and reliable commercial flight operations.
Mesotech worked closely with the New Mexico Department of Transportation Aviation Division, the Village of Ruidoso, local maintenance personnel, and the Federal Aviation Administration to accelerate the installation timeline and restore critical weather reporting capability at the airport.

The new Airport Weather Advisor® AWOS IIIPT provides comprehensive automated weather reporting, including wind speed and direction, temperature, dew point, altimeter setting, visibility, precipitation, cloud height, sky condition, present weather, and thunderstorm detection. These observations support pilots, airport operators, air traffic users, and commercial carriers with accurate for safe arrivals and departures.
Beyond aviation, the new AWOS will provide valuable surface weather observations for the broader Ruidoso region. Once commissioned and connected through standard aviation weather dissemination channels, the system’s real-time observations can contribute to the weather data available to NOAA, the National Weather Service, and local forecasters. Located in a mountainous region where conditions can change quickly, Sierra Blanca Regional Airport serves as an important observation point helping improve situational awareness for forecasters, emergency managers, pilots, airport personnel, and the surrounding community.
In addition to certified weather reporting, the system brings Sierra Blanca Regional Airport the latest in Mesotech’s connected aviation weather technology.
