Grant-Valkaria, Florida (March 31, 2023) – Mesotech commissioned a new Airport Weather Advisor® AWOS-3PT Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) at Valkaria Airport (KX59) in Grant-Valkaria, Florida on March 31, 2023. The installation was performed by Mesotech technicians and assisted by Aviation Construction and Electric.
Airport Weather Advisor® is the flagship product of Mesotech International, Inc., a Sacramento, California-based manufacturer of meteorological instrumentation systems. The new AWOS supports aviation safety by providing automatic, up-to-the-minute weather reports to pilots via radio, telephone, or the internet. The system is monitored remotely by Mesotech’s support staff to ensure the system operates properly year-round and live data in the palm of your hand can be found through the web-based app AWOS Live.

The city of Grant-Valkaria is the newest town in Brevard County Florida being incorporated in 2006. The community of Grant has a history as a fishing village and agricultural community since 1925 when it was established. Today, Grant-Valkaria is a growing community with good country living, a strong community spirit, and active volunteerism. While it’s a new city, it already has deep traditions. Spend the day on the water fishing at the Indian River Lagoon or visit one the five state parks, four federal wildlife refuges, or the national shoreline. The region is home to over 4,300 species of plants and animals.
Time your visit with the annual Grant-Valkaria Day to celebrate the town’s incorporation with music, BBQ, children’s fishing tournaments, and local artists or visit in the spring and enjoy the Grant Seafood Festival which has been held every year since 1968. And if you’ve an eye to plan for the future, be sure to visit in November 2056 to witness the opening of the time capsule from when the city was incorporated and see what treasures were preserved.
Valkaria Airport is a public-use airport located one mile west of the central business district of the city of Grant-Valkaria. The airport has two intersection paved asphalt runways designated 10/28 and 14/32, which both measure 4,000 feet (1,219 meters) and sits at an elevation of 26 feet (8 meters) above mean sea level.
The airport currently has 71 full sized hangers and is the home to the Space Coast Drone Test Center. The airport was originally constructed by the US Navy during World War II as an auxiliary airfield to Naval Air Station Melbourne and was closed in late 1945. The airport did not have any flight operations again until 1959 when it was reopened in support of launch operations at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and the Kennedy Space Center.
